Former Nickelodeon Star Emma Roberts Shares Candy Crush Swimsuit Photo
Unfabulous star Emma Roberts spent the summer having fun with friends and family—and getting plenty of sunshine, judging by her social media. Roberts, 32, shared a picture of herself posing on a grassy field in a lime green bikini, against a background of palm trees, mountains, and blue skies. "Candy crush 🍬 🍏," she captioned the post. "Beautiful queen," a fan commented. Roberts has been in the public eye since she was a child star—here's how she is thriving with every year that passes.
Roberts allows herself the occasional treat, but tries to be mindful of them. "I am not a running person," she says. "Everyone laughs at me because my legs turn out when I run. I look absolutely ridiculous. I stopped running in seventh grade. But on our days off, Lea Michele — she's also in Scream Queens — and I will go do Pilates together. I try to be healthy, but I will have dessert. I always have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Swedish Fish on set because I have to have something to look forward to. I'm not into gluten-free or diets like that. I do try to vary what I'm eating, though."
Pilates and yoga help Roberts feel better and sleep better. "I love yoga — I go to Reyn Studios in New Orleans," she says. "I like workouts that are good for your mind as well. With my job, your mind can get very noisy, and you can get a lot of anxiety. Sometimes I'll be up at night and unable to sleep because I have anxiety about stuff. When I do Pilates and yoga, I sleep easier and feel a bit more able to handle everything."
Roberts says having a child changed her life completely. "We could talk all day about that. It's obviously changed me – motherhood can't not change you," she says. "I think it's definitely made me slow down and be more grateful for quiet moments. Before, I was just working all the time and going non-stop. Having a child definitely makes you slow down and be more in the moment, which I'm very, very grateful for."
Roberts believes confidence comes from being around people who life you up. "I think what gives me confidence depends on the day and what I'm doing, and I'm sure everyone can relate to that," she says. "Sometimes you just wake up and you feel confident in your sweatpants with no make up on, and you're just having a great day where you're feeling 'on it'. And then other times, you do need a little more of a pick-me-up, so you do a face mask and pull yourself together a bit more. But I think at the end of the day, I feel most confident when I'm around people like my girlfriends, that support each other and make me feel secure. People that bring out the best in you, and you bring out the best in them. There's nothing better than when I've been away for a while and I get home and get to have a girls' dinner and catch up and there's just not even a moment of dead air."
Roberts swears by acupuncture sessions to help maintain energy levels. "I just started doing acupuncture in New Orleans because the city is such a mystical place with amazingly gifted people who are almost like healers," she says. "His name is Quang, and he works out of his house, and he'll work on 10 people at a time. I've noticed such a difference: It centers me, and I feel like it gets the blood flowing. Here we work, like, 12 to 15 hours a day, and you get really drained."
