Product recall: Bissell Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaner risk of fire

A popular vacuum cleaner sold at some of Australia’s biggest retailers is being recalled because of the risk it could catch fire.

Two models of the Bissell Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaner, which were on shelves for over three years, are being recalled because of possible defects and the risk of serious injury, according to Product Safety Australia.

All products with the model numbers 2588F and 2582H should be sent back to the manufacturer because some circuit boards in the battery could overheat and catch fire, according to a recall notice.

Consumers are being asked to check their machine’s model number, found on the rating label, to see if it has been being recalled.

The products were sold at Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, JB Hi Fi, Bing Lee, Betta and on Bissell Australia’s website, as well as several other retailers.

They were sold between June 2019 and September 2022.

“Consumers should immediately stop using their Bissell Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaners and check the rating label to see if it is a recalled model,” according to the Product Safety Australia notice.

Consumers have been told that if their appliance has one of the recalled model numbers, they should stop using it and register their details with the manufacturer for a replacement.
